CHIPO NYAMBIYA

Le mbira, piano à pouce dont l’origine remonte à quelques milliers d’années et dont la pratique appartient au patrimoine culturel immatériel de l’humanité de l’UNESCO, émet un son à nul autre pareil, émouvant, enlevant.  À l’instar de sa compatriote Stella Chiweshe, Chipo Nyambiya est une des rares femmes à jouer de cet instrument magique. Confiante, positive, fonceuse, Chipo Nyambiya est de ces chanteuses dont les envolées vocales mettent à nu l’authenticité. Les chansons folk-pop de celle qui est diplômée en musicologie de l’université du Grand Zimbabwe ont pour vocation de rapprocher les gens.

Alice Chipo Nyambiya est une musicienne, instrumentiste, mannequin et actrice.Son nom d’artiste est Chipo Nyambiya. Elle joue de la mbira et du Kalimba (instruments traditionnels du Zimbabwe).

Depuis son plus jeune âge, elle se passionne pour la musique. À l’âge de 9 ans, elle rejoint la chorale de son école en troisième année. Elle a étudié la musique pendant des années et obtenu une licence en musicologie et en ethno-chorégie.

“J’aime tellement la musique que j’ai eu des rêves, des plans ou des visions de devenir musicienne depuis mon plus jeune âge. Mon plus grand cadeau de Dieu a été d’aller à l’Université du Grand Zimbabwe et d’intégrer sa fanfare. À partir de là, la passion s’est intensifiée, au point que je me suis dit que je devais prendre au sérieux toutes les opportunités qui se présenteraient à moi”.

Elle s’est produite avec le groupe Team Fusion de 2016 à 2018 et a effectué des tournées dans de nombreux pays africains. Au Zimbabwe, le Team fusion band a joué dans de nombreux festivals comme Hifa et a partagé la scène avec de grands artistes comme Jah prayzah, Hope Masike, feu Oliver Mtukudzi et Thomas Mapfumo.

En 2018, Chipo a représenté le Zimbabwe aux États-Unis lors d’une compétition appelée WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts).

The mbira, a thumb piano whose origins date back thousands of years and whose practice is part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage of humanity, emits a sound like no other, moving, and exciting.  Like her compatriot Stella Chiweshe, Chipo Nyambiya is one of the few women to play this magical instrument. Confident, positive, dynamic, Chipo Nyambiya is one of those singers whose vocal flights of fancy expose her authenticity. The folk-pop songs of this musicology graduate from the University of Great Zimbabwe are meant to bring people together.

Alice Chipo Nyambiya is a musician, instrumentalist, model and actress. She plays the mbira and the Kalimba (traditional Zimbabwean instruments).

She has been passionate about music since she was very young. At the age of 9, she joined her school choir in the third grade. She studied music for years and earned a degree in musicology and ethno-choreography.

"I love music so much that I have had dreams, plans or visions of becoming a musician since I was very young. My greatest gift from God was going to Great Zimbabwe University and joining its marching band. From there, the passion intensified to the point where I told myself that I had to take any opportunity that came my way seriously."

She performed with the Team Fusion band from 2016 to 2018 and toured many African countries. In Zimbabwe, the Team fusion band has performed at many festivals such as Hifa and shared the stage with great artists such as Jah prayzah, Hope Masike, the late Oliver Mtukudzi and Thomas Mapfumo.

In 2018, Chipo represented Zimbabwe in the United States at a competition called WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts).
